SMS Notifications

*New Idea* Community Boards can send out meeting announcements, reminders and recaps via text messages, in order to reach a larger audience.

Not all New Yorkers have access to the Internet. However, many people use cell phones. Sending out meeting notifications by text messages can assist Community Boards in reaching more potential participants. Better outreach means better engagement.

Using SMS can make it easier for the Board to communicate directly with residents. For example, the MTA sends SMS notifications with the location of the next bus, to people who requested this information via Bus Time.
