CB Glossary

A common document of Board related terms, to help explain the Board's processes and planning jargon to the public.

The CB glossary does not exist yet, but could be useful, especially for Board members. Boards could curate this document together, and use the Handbook for Community Board Members as a basis. One option of making this information accessible, would be presenting a short explanation of a daily or weekly topic on the Board’s website.

Drawing from a database of Community Board “vocabulary”, below are some examples of topics to include.

  • Full board meeting
  • District needs statement
  • Resolution
  • Public member
  • ULURP
